Gold/amber colour. Bq w kerosene, minerals, honey, saline and bitter notes towards the end. Very fruity, oily attack, then the high acidity and minerals kick in. Long aftertaste w tropical fruit and (again) bitterness and salinity. Some complexity there. Will last a bit longer, but probably won't improve. Nice!

On first pour a bit flabby Really opened brilliantly after a couple of hours Also needed to chill down to say 5 degrees to concentrate the fruit and acid balance Then it really sung!!

I may have waited to drink this bottle a bit too long or is this bottle just off. This wine feels like it’s lacking a bit of fruit concentration which shows up in a modest nose and a fairly underwhelming palate. Otherwise structurally it seems ok and intact.

Nice crisp Alsatian riesling with pear, nuts, minerals. Good food wine. Decently balanced but lacking a bit of structure. Fairly straight ahead wine, but well crafted wine.

Two Alsace Rieslings Side-by-Side (Wellington, New Zealand): Gold colour. Bouquet initially crushed rock, oyster shell, a little honey and a touch of kerosene. With time aromas of stone fruit and some tropical fruit emerged. On the second day the nose had moved more apple, peach and spice, with some underlying chalky minerality. An intriguing, attractive bouquet. On palate, youthful, with quite a lot of ripe fruit. The flavours are orange marmalade, citrus, chalk and minerals, with some marine elements and a little salinity. The longer the Ste. Catherine was open, the more the flavour profile moved towards tropical fruit - pineapple, guava, rock melon etc - glycerol, honey and spice. At this stage a riper, more rounded expression I preferred to the Kitterlé, but with plenty of acidity. In fact, the wine has beautifully balanced, sparkling acidity. Lovely texture and mouthfeel, good structure and length. This Riesling will easily go another 10+ years and become more complex, but it is lovely now.
