  • Last bottle I had must have been corked as the bottle was still very livel. No formal notes but was fabulous, thought think they are as good as it will get and maybe starting downhill, so don’t hesitate to enjoy, Really no decant needed.

  • Just as I thought from the last tasting, these bottles are fading and as a previous person noted, these are pretty one dimensional wines, and unfortunately not built to last. Have to say that when purchased, had a completely different palate and taste profile, these unfortunately resemble a backwards Anniversary Caymus. Fruit is pretty muted, mostly dark red fruit with a smattering of black and blue. Not much for secondary flavors, but do have to say it does have a decent mid-but it just doesn't seem to evolve past that. But on a positive note... most of that over oaked - vanilla flavor has subsided. Taste some age and color is a little bricked, but the heat is all but gone. Just wish it tasted more like it smells in the glass - actually a nice bouquet....

It is a decent wine still, just at that price point, and back in '06.. well it should be an amazing wine today.. wish i had been a bit more knowledgeable and spent that kind money on some ageable wines. But, the DDotto's were the first boutique wines I had been introduced too..... so was part of the wine learning curve....just know a lot more now and would hopefully make better choices... always learning and evolving!!

Looking at CT - Shows there are still some bottles in cellar.. IMHO.. drink up soon!!

  • Was good on opening, tastes of plum, black current, cinnamon, and a hint of clove, oak was not over powering but evident and it had a nice finish and unfortunately not much mid.

I did love this bottle at the barrel tasting when purchased, and have had a number of good bottles throughout its short 10 years, enjoyable but not mind blowing. As the other reviews say, it is not a multi dimensional wine, though IMHO it is a good bottle, but for the price tag would have expected it to be a great bottle and at a minimum should have held up much better, even evolved over time.

Unfortunately, at this point, once opened it needs to be consumed quickly - would not recommending decanting as it does start to fall apart the longer exposed to air. After 30 min - 1 hr, started to develop some green pepper even sour notes. On its decline, so drink em up if you got em', definitely don't think it would get any better and IMHO don't think they will hold up too much longer.

  • My 2008 self was an idiot. Not well made at all. One dimensional and very uninteresting.

  • Don't think it was worse, than last time, maybe even better but my taste have clearly evolved. Well made, but one dimensional. Tasted better with cuban style beef and also cheddar cheese than on its own.
