Drank with the 2021 Easter Lunch. mature and relatively light reddish brown color; reticent nose; some rose petals, slightly dusty tannins. On the palate it has light to medium weight; quite attractive with good presence on the middle palate and elegant finish. The wine has finesse rather than power and is still very much alive even though approaching the frail state. I think it should be consumed in the next 5 years or so. A pleasure to drink and went very well with the oven roasted Easter bunny. (Would not stand up to beef, too delicate.)

Farewell to Josh - the burbs have him now. (L'Artusi Restaurant, West Village, Manhattan): Very old and hanging on. Salty nose with cherry, sardine, and funk (seaweed - Matt). Soft on the palate - funky and tertiary. Blue cheese and cherries. Great acid, fully resolved with earthy notes and stones. A little cherry and sherry in the finish. Nose - 4/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/6 = 16/20.

Sending Josh off to the 'burbs (l'Artusi, NYC): Deep blood, bricked but astonishingly dark still. HUGE nose of burning embers, seaweed, tarry seadock, juniper, beeswax -- it just goes on forever; fucking Islay peat (!); forest moss. Wow... Palate is round with a touch of aggressive acidity, healthily tannic, with buckets of old skool Rioja fruit -- plums, figs, currants -- wrapping it all up. Long. Just terrific; couldn't possibly be better. Drink, but no hurry as this probably has another 30 years ahead of it, easily.

In excellent condition and drinking beautifully. Audouzed for a couple hours before drinking, and continued to improve as the night went on. Fantastic, traditional Rioja.

Mature looking with a touch of bricking. Animalistic VA nose but still some soft fruit. Light on the palate, with lots and lots of fruit still. This is really lovely. Excellent.
