  Fall 2012 Blind Tasting Dinner at Hawley's: Again, tasted blind and tricked quite a few of us. There was a sense there might be some Grenache on the nose.14.5% alc was lower than expected. Very fruit forward which made it CA in my mind, but others who claim to be going thru a "French Phase" thought it was Rhone.

  I've drank a few of these over the years now and this has evolved into something very nice. Really needs a couple of hours of decanting to settle - initially it's a bit too peppery and spicy. This strikes me as a style of syrah that may or may not match people's taste. Some may prefer a more concentrated yet laid back vanilla-toned style of syrah, but this is a bit more forward, direct and edgy with very little in the way of subtlety or elegance.
