Slight signs of discolouration around the rim. Open and expressive on the nose with notes of cedar, spices, cassis fruit. Nicely textured on the palate with round tannins, good acidity, ripe and concentrated fruit. Savoury finish with very good length. Drink or hold. 91-93
Darkish red/purple. The branaire 2000 is full of lively and vibrant young berry fruits. Dark raspberry, blackberry and cherry leaps forward on the expressive nose immediately after opening. Palate is flavorful yet weigthless displaying the essence of St. Julien, the effortless balance between power and elegance, between ripe fruit and acidic bite. Damn delicious but despite its youthfull flavors, there is no agressive backbone left and it seems quite smooth and not as long on the finish as i would ahve thought.
Still pretty deep garnet/purple color. Aged nose of barnyard, horse saddle, dark berries (cassis, black currant), some flowers and a touch of tobacco. On the palate there are similar notes. It's medium-full bodied with still medium+ tannin and medium+ acidity. Long finish. This is still surprisingly young like many of the 2000s, very classic in structure and aromatics. A very pretty Bordeaux at the beginning of it's drinking window. I will probably give my additional bottles 2-3 years more in the cellar... (93+)
Just ordered two more of these and decided to check in, didn't enjoy as much as previous experience, takes about 2 hours for the toned currant, cigar, cedar and earth notes to really show, similar palate with nice acidity and smooth silky tannins, though there was a slight hint of heat on the finish
Pencil lead and cedar on nose with hint of almond On palate, tannins are almost fully integrated with bright red fruit. Double decanted 3-4 hours before drinking Very little sediment other than on side of bottle

(Chateau Branaire Ducru) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-you get this beautiful lavender meets blueberry pie; huge intensity; very serious; dark fruit; very elegant and polished; very smooth almost ocean like; PALATE-this wine is friggin' SPECTACULAR; this is beautiful, textbook Bordeaux; there is huge intensity of fruit coming through; there's AMAZING blackberry, blueberries and black currant; a hint of leather, but jammy, jammy fruit that provides a delicious factor that's in the 100 point range; Beautiful, Great, this is just Fantastic! I I'm completely blown away by how well this is drinking; the smoothness of this wine is ridonkulous; one of the best wines I've had this year; this completely ROCKS my face off; Spectacular!!!
