1990-99 1er cru dinner at The Bristol (Chicago, IL): Very big and rich, but as I maintain, Meo-Camuzet does the best in thinner vintages anyway. Black-fruited and dense, with a slight hint of sweetness (from the oak?) that is nicely countered by a fair bit of acidity as well as some coarser tannins that still need a bit of time to work themselves out. Drinking very well -- this was one of the contenders for wine of the night.

Barnyard and spice nose with a polished, generous palate and great mouthfeel. High acidity but this had enough fruit to keep it in check. Super complex at first, but this shut down for a little while as the rest of the wines started to open up.
