Had the first of 2 bottles about 5 years earlier. Decanted for an hour and shared at thanksgiving. Smooth and pleasant wine.. a crowd pleaser. Fruit and tannins balanced well.

Dark, heading toward brick in color. Very vanilla nose, hints of chocolate. Firm tannic structure but still smooth to drink. Flavors of licorice and tar dominate the black fruits. Salud!

Wow! What a mouthful! This is about the blackest wine that I have ever seen, and the initial few sips were almost unpleasantly intense. Over time, it mellowed out a bit, but still maintained very intense vanilla, licorice and coffee notes. It is an interesting wine, but not for the faint of heart.

Initially very strong oak/vanilla nose. After an hour+ in a decanter this blew-off and showed nice strawberries and plums on the nose and similar on the palate with some bitterness on the finished. Definitely better than last year. 88-89

Very nice smooth vanilla nose. Medium body, blackberries, plums with slightly harsh astringent finish with some pepper. Went well with food. Hold the next bottle for a year or two and serve it with food.
