Color: dark as Egypt's night! On the nose there are figs and molasses as well as a bit of cough syrup.. On the palate it still is a bit raw and tannic; a bit of a hole on the middle palate. Far from ready. hard to guess where it will go from here.

Good show this time. Cork smelt a bit dubious (TCA?), but the wine was untainted. Still dark-coloured, rich and hefty, alcohol rather prominent. Does not show its age.

I last opened one of these in May 2019. Gave it a 90 then as well. Lots of dark fruit and a but of a warm finish that is perfect on a cool, rainy evening. Made me yearn for an aged blue cheese or gorgonzola but alas all I had was some Colby Jack. C'est la vie. Tomorrow I must buy some cheese with blue or green streaks!

From a 375ml bottle. Cork broke upon removal with an Ah-So. I didn’t do the best job in decanting away the sediment. Deep garnet in color. Nose is less complex than I expected, but a very classic profile. Carmel, cocoa, dried cherries, figs, raisins, and mild toasted nuts. Palate is a but underwhelming but well executed. Dried sweet cherries, nuts, and caramel. I even get a bit of green pepper on the palate. A decent acidity profile present. Finish is everlasting with caramel, black pepper, figs, spices, and a very pleasant oak barrel presence that builds up with each sip.
I was expecting more from this bottle. Not sure if it is because of the smaller bottle or unknown provenance. Still made for a good dessert wine for a weekday night dinner.

Nose of plums and cigar tobacco. Yes an interesting mix, but one that is pleasing and enjoyable. Deep in glass, with a rounded approach on the front. The finish is a bit abrupt....could be longer. A good pairing for Downton Abbey!
