  Tasted on an extraordinary night at Alinea in Chicago, if blind I would have thought this was a Chateau Beaucastel in prime drinking window. Huge power and concentration, with delightful sweetness balanced by fine, structured acidity. This was so incredibly long. I'm shamefully lacking in knowledge about California's Rhone Varietals, but based on this, I'm a total convert.

  Second time with this wine. While not the nearly perfect wine I thought it was five years ago, it is still unbelievably delicious. A few savory notes, while maintaining youthful fruit. Amazing this wine is 16 years old. Time will tell, but it might be my favorite Saxum ever.

  Impenetribly dark, no browning. Beautiful nose jumps from the glass with pure dark fruit, some secondary and floral notes, smooth mouthfeel, resolved tannins, balanced and civilized, but heavy, full bodied. Long, long finish. A truely marvelous wine.

  Kiawah 2022; 8/6/2022-8/13/2022: Pomegranate, sour cherry, raspberry. These 2007 Saxum’s are just next level. Iron fist velvet glove. White pepper. Mild bell pepper. Amazing. Great finsih. So integrated. At peak
