Medium yellow. Some remnant effervescence. A touch of honey and ripe peach. Medium weight, not as unctuous as a BA but rich with enough acidity and lime to balance the ripe stone fruit and give some sense of restraint. Moderate sweetness, long finish. Dynamite dessert wine not over the top, superb for the vintage, and drinking at its peak.
Popped and poured. This is a pale yellow wine. The nose is great, with rocks, lanolin, straw, and crushed seashells. In the mouth, this is honied, rich, and delicious, leaving a sticky-sweet finish. Overall, this is an enjoyable Auslese with a great nose but slightly flabby mouth. Enjoy now or for years to come. 91 points.
From 375ml. Opened next to a Donnhoff GKA which I liked better. This was sweeter but not a dessert wine. Last had this in 2008 and it has a better balance this time around. Solid acidity. Very pure and fresh tasting. Pear and cane sugar notes. Supple finish. 93 points.
