Not bad -- I'd like to see the price at closer to $15. Nice deep purple color. Fruit developed as the wine was swirled in the glass. Nose of blue fruit, raspberry, some oak and a touch of menthol. Nice smooth and sweet on the palate. Fruit took some coaxing but came through as it mixed with the sweet oaky notes. Nice medium finish.

Very nice Dolcetto from unlikely place. Deep red color. Nose of cherry and a touch of oak. The palate was more or less a straight shot -- sour cherry, cherry vanilla and some oak. Very fruit forward and not terribly subtle, but that is not the intention. Easy drinking with a bit of tartness at the back and a surprisingly long finish.

Italy in the Valley (Cana's Feast Winery, Carlton, OR): Medium red color. Earthy strawberries, with a touch of tobacco. Finishes rather sour and primary.

2006 Dolcetto $25. Winery only. Sweetish, cherry, pepper, and some tannins. Good for a roast, or so I was told. Tasted at Ponzi.
