Initially quite dark, cool, and tight, this quickly blossomed into a rustic and highly expressive nose with blueberry, dusty leather, black cherry, some game meat, and terrific spice. Quite stemmy. Remains a little tight. Palate is refined and fresh. Some less pleasant sour cherry towards the end. Good, if less than amazing, hard to say whether this has peaked or if it will gain anything else.

Bright garnet with just a hint of brick. Very tight and angular but air gives it some weight and sweetness. Went back and forth between open and closed. Tons of spice and minerals on the nose with pure red fruit playing in the background for now. But the last glass had tons of sap and very good length. Think this will benefit nicely from a few ore years in the cellar.

Seems a little disjointed at the moment. Maybe bottle variation. Withholding judgement until I try the next one.

An evening of Mugneret-Gibourg (Le Deuxième, Long Acre, London): Savoury, smoky bacon, but fruity too, young but approachable
