| | Tasted by Kevin H on 1/10/2010 & rated 88 points: Light bubbles, golden colour and a nose of yeasty bread and apples. Smells mature. More apples in the flavour, limes too and oxidative yeasty flavours. Quite dry and tastes mature and a bit flat - not very exciting. However with a spicy chicken curry it was a revelation, apples and limes flavour held up well against the spice and it had a fine palate freshening effect. Dull on its own but a good food wine. | | Tasted by french16 on 12/29/2009 & rated 90 points: Very light bubbles, on the second day there was only a slight spritz. Brown and green apple, buttered sage, lemon, smoky minerality. Interesting beer yeast flavors as well. Balanced, med to high acidity, a pleasure to drink. (134 views) |
| | Tasted by brooklynguy on 11/16/2009: woolly, very much of a place. with air there is lime and a wet rock finish. lovely, if challenging wine. the wife no like. but she's wrong, plain and simple. there is an underlying energy, an incredible purity that distinguishes this wine. (307 views) |
| | Tasted by french16 on 11/3/2009 & rated 90 points: Great stuff here. Some age showing colorwise. Yeasty nose with quince, green apple, pear. Med+ acidity, dry, fine, soft and light bubbles. A very light touch of oxidation on the palate with again plenty of apple, quince, pear and the yeasty flavor get stronger with air. Overall, a great Vouvray petillant which would shadow quite a few Champagne! (264 views) |
| | Tasted by Rupert on 9/24/2009 & rated 89 points: Obviously chenin with its softness and appleyness, much more vigorously sparking than petillant led me to expect - I loved it (300 views) |
| | Tasted by Keith Levenberg on 9/22/2009 & rated 91 points: Maybe not quite as piercing and expressive as the 2002, but clearly made of the same stuff. Still has the freshness of youthful fruit but with more depth and a metallic minerality. Excellent stuff and no second-fiddle to Champagne either. (542 views) |
| | Tasted by cvvhrn on 8/24/2009: It was the forth bottle of the night so the score was defered. It was also on the sweet side (329 views) |
| | Tasted by Pknut on 8/14/2009: Seems like there is some residual sugar here, definitely sweeter than most Brut. The bubbles are light here, small bead, the palate sweet and borderline tropical. Decent acidity to back it up. Much better with two hours of air (with sushi from Tenzan), as it had broadened. Deb and I both enjoyed it, me perhaps because it appealed to my sweet tooth, but Deb is a discerning champagne connoisseur and she liked this. (375 views) |
| | Tasted by Wine-Strategies on 5/12/2009 & rated 87 points: Robert Chadderdon Selections (Denver, CO): Straw colour with a bit of a tropical nose. The body of the Chenin grape & the lees treatment really shows here. Probably my least favourite in the Huet lineup. Nonetheless, well made and waiting for the proper pairing. Approx $29 (484 views) |
| | Tasted by Anonymous on 3/28/2009: Full yellow with pineapple nose. Dry, ripe, sherried notes. Dull and undistinguished. What's the point? I'll drink my Huet Chenin Blanc without bubbles, thank you. (476 views) |
| | Tasted by Roughl on 3/8/2009 & rated 90 points: Loire tasting: more straw yellow than champagne, a bit more viscosity. First notes very floral, fleur d'oranger, apricot and apples, yeast. Good rich mouthfeel, full flavour; with strong acidity that keeps everything in check. A four second finish, and long lingering bitter/grapefruit notes. Excellent (401 views) |
| | Tasted by tcfishler on 10/2/2008: Loire Trip (with stops in Beaujolais and the Cote Chalonnaise); 10/2/2008-10/5/2008: Yeasty baked pear nose. Less gassy and denser than most Loire sparklers, but with a slight sharpness to the finishing acids. (515 views) |
