  • At one point, this might have been a slightly better wine, but it is past its prime, and for a 1989 Grand Cru St. Emilion, that shouldn't be the case... And I know that Schneider's of DC is still selling this, at a pricey $70+. Anyway, when first opened, there was still a bit of black fruit on the palate, and tobacco and leather on the nose, with grippy tannins dominating, no balance and hard to believe it ever was. Had you told me it was a generic 1998 St. Emilion I had bought for $7 and let sit in my cellar, yeah, that's more what this was...
