  • Shows a different character from the standard Sonoma valley zin. Fresher fruit, a bit more tannic.

  • PnP. Nose is a bit muted and there is a lot of alcohol present. Color is dark ruby turning brownish red on the edges. The palate is very dominated by the alcohol. Strikingly so, which makes it hard to pick up what fruit is there. 45 minutes in the alcohol on the nose has blown off and subsided on the palate. Dark fruit, white pepper spice on the finish. Not very complex. Ended up being a pleasant sipper with mild acid after it settled down. Was hoping for much more at this price point. Even though the alcohol blew off, I would recommend consuming these now instead of later. I suspect the dominance of alcohol will only get worse with age.

  • I love this wine! It is definitely Peter's nod to the new world but not over the top. I wish I had a case, sadly this is the only bottle.

  • Really good nose, dominated by cocoa with some dark berries, very rich. A bit hot. Surprisingly significant tannins. Lots of pepper and fruit on the palate. Strong finish. Went very well with lamb with a mole-inspired sauce, as it was able to hold up to the spice nicely. It would have been good to see how it changed with some air, but it went quickly at a dinner party.
