  Ruby brown color. Still lots of juicy fruit, notes of boysenberry and raspberry jam. Also lots of tertiary notes of leather, oak, tobacco, vanilla on the nose and also on the palate. Some spicy black pepper on the finish. Tannins are fully integrated, maybe a hair flat. Overall, a fantastic wine that is at its peak or just over.

  I have to be in the right mood (and it's not often), but in that mood, a stupendously rich blueberry/blackberry/oak concoction hits the spot. The fruit is so concentrated and opulent, it's practically a meal in itself. 20 years on, and it still fresh. A singular expression of wine. And thus not for everyone.

  An oldie, but a goodie. Rich, dense, creamy blueberries and blackberries, leavened with oodles of vanilla, and finished with copious black pepper. Not subtle, but nonetheless smooth and easy; a velvet hammer. I've been drinking it for nearly two decades, and it has remained remarkably consistent over that time. Some day, this will crap out, but in the meantime, it's quite pleasurable.

  From our cellar. Last bottle of 1/2 a case. Last tasted 6 years ago. Every bottle has been extraordinary. Decanted...lots of sediment. Bouquet of dark fruits, berries and spice. Inky maroon color with bricking on the edges. Still has a massive concentration of fruit - and in an elegant way. Full bodied and silky smooth. Layers of dark fruit, berries, figs, chocolate, spices. Tannins are resolved. Good acidity, long finish. The only negative for me is the still the slightly noticeable alcohol in the background, otherwise this wine really is 'the stuff of legends'. An amazing wine from an amazing vintage. No telling how long these will last. Enjoy now or continue to hold.

  Tasty as always. It seemed more relaxed than past bottles, although the fruit and spices were still luscious and intense on an absolute scale.
