  • Bright, blood red-ruby. Earthy, barnyardy with leathery and herbal hints. Mature, prune-like fruit in the first 2 hours after opening. The longer the bottle was open, the wine became rejuvenated, the fruit turning to a more youthful plum, blackberry and cherry character. Good intensity. On the palate, the wine is vital and powerful, even robust. Excellent backbone, firm acidity and tannins with no signs of weakening. Loads of earth, spice, plum, dried herbs, leather. Based on this bottle, I am tempted to believe that this wine has just entered its peak period and can go on for another 10 years. Amazing QPR at just 9€, bought 5 years ago. 87-88.

  • Definitely on the herbaceous, woody side. Aromas and flavours of new oak, brine/thyme (almost bordering on dill) and black berries. A bit one-dimensional and slowing some oxidative/reductive character. I'm drinking up -- and never buying from this house again. The Gran Reserva is even more woody and oxidized tasting -- immediately on release.

  • Yummie, that was my best bottle of it so far or I was just in the mood for it. Dark cherries on the nose, which continues on the palate, mix this with some leather and tobacco, which gives it a nice rough edge. Almost addictive finish. Wow; even more considering the low price.

Only downside that it completely overpowered the salmon I had it with, matches up better with a piece of meat or game.

  • This has held up rather well. Dried cherry, tobacco, and leather flavors. Still alive at this point, but I don't see it improving.
