2012 - Gary's wine bash! (Jade Palace Seafood Restaurant, The Forum Shopping Mall, Orchard Road): Alcohol :: 13.2% Dark garnet. Intense and powerful nose of sweet cigar box, cedar and tobacco along with blackcurrant fruits and plum, mineral too, high tone and lively. This medium bodied, 29yrs old Cab is offering opulent mouth feel, good focus and depth with layer of sweet dark fruits, but not so much secondary nuances. That's said, this is yet again a well-stored bottle today but it is relatively simple on complexity, especially when you compare to both Bordeaux which were serving earlier. Fine grained tannin and firm structure, a bit rough. Long, powerful, intense finish. This is definitely enjoyable but I wonder how would be the evolution, stay as it is now or with better nuances? Somehow I feel it will be the former.
Had severe reservations about this bottle based on age and other reports. Tasted with several others and all agreed that it was fantastic. Still alive, and held up well over a few hours. I wish I had another.
This is a lovely and classic bottle of Cal Cab, minty/eucalyptus notes abounding, over a solid and young base of cassis fruit. Group immediately got CalCab, though first guesses were in 70s and they flailed for producer. A-/B+
Cork pulled clean and clear. The bottle tasted as fresh as could be. Typical Eisele flavors, beautiful perfumed nose. This bottle was really singing. Did not decant, popped, rested for 30 minutes and enjoyed.
