| Community Tasting Notes (average 88.3 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 12 notes) | | | Tasted by bacchus on 4/1/2010 & rated 90 points: hard to believe that it has been a year since i last tasted this wine. first purchase was based on limited store selection on short notice. subsequent purchases due to heavily discounted price. the wine has held up well over the year. it is still fresh and clean. not sure why inventory is being moved out. although, i have to say it was a bit overpriced at $18. at current price level it offers through the roof qpa. the tropicals are not overdone and the semillon adds a bit of oomph. will go back for whatever is left. Not as much grapefruit as I like, and a touch more herbaciousness than I like, but it was a solid wine. Had with grilled shrimp and fresh backed bread with sweet Irish butter. Don't be afraid of this wine, but be careful on the price. If you like the Cali style, this seems to be one of the tops. But, for my money, I would prefer buying a solid bottle from NZ and having $10 left in my pocket. (342 views) | | | Tasted by robnmo on 7/10/2009 & rated 87 points: faint aromas of citrus and melon on the nose. On the palate this is restrained in comparison with New Zealand. Nice acidity with mango, pineapple, lemon and lime on the palate. A nice change of pace for a SB. (442 views) | | | Tasted by *Vine* on 6/24/2009 & rated 88 points: Unscrewed and poured. Pale lemon/straw hue. Pleasant aromas of citrus, honeydew melon, wax, and freshly mowed grass. Medium-light body. Subtle flavors of lemon, tropical fruit, and minerals. Average finish. An elegant and restrained example of Sauvignon Blanc that doesn't posses any of the harsh, herbaceous notes that can sometimes mar this varietal. Perfect for sipping on a hot day. (459 views) | | | Tasted by bacchus on 4/24/2009 & rated 89 points: haven't had alot of cali SB. i am glad to have discovered this one. not boring at all. great penetration of lemon, lime, pear and acidity. i don't know about the other components described by others. i think it can go another year without difficulty. stood up well to sauteed shrimp with italian spices. will try to find the estate grown which should kick it up a notch. (615 views) | | | Tasted by danstrings on 9/13/2008 & rated 91 points: La Strada Brenda Cyn -- Awesome SB, one of Napa's best, loaded with balanced citrus/pineapple and honeyed elements. Very refreshing.
