Plums and thyme on the nose. Blueberries and cherries with some vanilla notes on the palate. Silky tannins. Alcohol barely noticeable, even at 16%. Medium-length finish. Served with appetizer of andouille sausage and a trio of sharp cheddars and then with thin-sliced grilled eye of round aboard some Whole Foods rosemary sourdough slathered with some chipotle mayo.
I think this will be more enjoyable with food. So I paired it with rosemary crusted lamb chops. Yum! There is nothing subtle about this wine and I like it. If you understand what you are opening, you should find this enjoyable. There are big flavors of blueberry, spices, and some red meat. For a bottle with 16% alcohol, it is impressively light and drinkable. This is not your every night wine but it shouldn't be a one time wine either.
