Remarkably fresh for a 31 year old white wine! Medium dark amber, the nose is a welcoming array lime, slate, beeswax, and a touch of honeysuckle. Flavors persist on the lively palate, with great acidic lift and significant mineral notes shining through. Medium long finish, a very nice mature wine.

first gruner vetliner i've ever had, very nice wine, very smooth, maybe could have used a touch more acid, had the aged / honeyed thing going in a great way (i.e. not in a tired / premoxed way), it was thick rich on mouthfeel, apples on the attach and lemons / honey on the finish, something else i'm not used to as well - my wife said spicy, i'm thinking spearmint or maybe a little bitters, anyway a nice experiment and great wine for 23 years old, don't know that i'll move away from my white burg addiction though

We served this with two tomato-based dishes: gazpacho and tomato-rice. It went really well with the food. The wine was good;perhaps itg would have benefited from a little more acidity. I might have mistaken it for a chardonnay.

Great again. Nice aged but not oxed golden color. Charming nose of of citrus and stone fruits. Medium-bodied, rich but subtle. Great acidity and nice minerality. Just a touch of honey and spice. Everything is in the right place on this one.

(Kirchmayr Grüner Veltliner Solist Altenberg) Medium golden color; oxidized, spicy, earthy, grapefruit and mineral palate with good acidity; medium-plus finish
(KIRCHMAYR Gruner Veltliner ALTENBERG) 1990 Dear Friends, The library selections from Kirchmayr have been extremely popular and I received a note on Sunday night that the 1990 Solist GV was to be released today (so I got in line early). A 1990 Altenberg with 17 years of age at under a comparable 2007 at over $50? I'll take as much as they will give me. In the end, they only released 120 bottles (as has been the norm - I was hoping for more like 300 so we could get 30-50 bottles of it) - so, with very little to go around, please be patient with Niki here. An amazing source continues to provide us with one thrill after another. 1990 Kirchmayr Gruner Veltliner "Altenberg" Solist (Weinviertel) From the winery (they pen a new TN when the wine is released from the library to give everyone an idea of the evolution - their TN's have been remarkably accurate over the years - they have nothing to prove and their integrity is second to none): "From very rocky soil, Yellow gold; the bouquet reminds one of peaches, dried apricots, ripe pineapples and ripe apples, vanilla, caramel; with mineral components, great complexity, lively impression on the palate, well-balanced and long finish; dry. Only natural yeasts were used in 1990 with no new cooperage." EXTREMELY LIMITED (once again, if you see US listings, I seriously doubt they have the wine) This parcel is directly from the source in library-release condition Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Austr9000

Unique wine. Spicy, some earth and citrus. Harder to pair with food, not an obvious choice for a first course
