Ashen cigar, tart red currant. Musk sticks on the palate. Reasonably balanced in terms of tannins, however the fruit is so over-ripe and sweet, it's a real distraction. Instead of the fruit fading away in favour of secondary flavours, it seems to be becoming sweeter and more ripe as the wine ages. At 10 years old, I expected better. 3 bottles remain. I think they'll serve as a curiosity rather than provide any real enjoyment.

Decanted 1 hour. Really expressive nose. Medium body. Tart, ripe raspberries with a dusty mature edge coming into play. There is a hint of varnish (presumably from high alcohol). Better integrated than previous bottles from memory. I'm not really sure where is this going. The structure is present for a long life, but I don't what the the flavour profile will look like in another 5 years. Time will tell.

Prior to decanting: Opaque ruby, full nose of musky, sweet red berries. There is an refined red berry intensity to the palate which only old vines can bring. Acidity and tannins are in harmony with the fruit, providing enough structure and grip to carry this into the next decade. It's better than the last bottle we had over a year ago, though I still think this has a way to go. It will never be as good at the 2005, but it's closing the gap.

Well balanced full bodies. Rose petals, plum, sour cherries, mild oak and cedar. Some acid and mild tannins.
