  • (blind tasting)
    at Shakuf concept restaurant
at first light red-brown color, cloudy. Seems oxidized.
    leather earthy secondary aromas
very tannic in a way that makes you wonder whether it's a Nebbiolo or Temranillo. As it opens in the glass, clear presence of Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz appear as well. Full body, dense, ripe fruits, enjoyable with food.

  • Well blended with a beautifully long lasting aftertaste -- smooth and interesting with moderate tannins and low acidity. We really enjoyed this one and compare it favorably with other blends. The aftertaste is a small bit of fruit (blackberry perhaps) with an anise spice. The initial taste is more of a fennel or nutty flavor. At times we thought of quince, sour cherry, or other bits of fruit overtones. On other tastes there seemed a slightly, very pleasant herbal bitterness that was like a sour lemon or sour cherry. The initial taste was sometimes almost sneaky, dominating mineral water-like, followed by the aftertaste. This did shift with further time out, so this one does clearly benefit from waiting after corking. The blend is Cabernet, Carmenere, Syrah and Petit Verdout. This is 14% alcohol and from Chile. We purchased this as part of a mixed case, so 15% off (23.79). Paired very well with a cheese and bread initial course. The color is a purply red with a moderate to light nose.

  • Good deep consistent color. Great nose, especially after 1.5 of decanting. Nice flavor with mild tannins and good balance. Should age for a few more years at least.
