Dark red purple Intense cooked plums aroma with spicy hints - as if this wine comes from a warm climate, Priorat or even Australia... However, unlike expectations based on the intense aroma the body is rather medium with light tannins, fair acidity, low complexity and medium structure, but low harmony. Easy drinking, pleasant overall now. May not keep many years. Still, the big dissonance between aroma and palate doesn't leave you with an impression of great wine.

Very strikingly unique nose. At first I thought it was green, stemmy and possibly underripe - but that blew off and left behind a VERY distinct black olive note. Like - right out of the can black olives. It had lots of dirty earth, some smoke. For a while I couldn't decide if I liked it but then I realized it was making me think so much - this had to be a good thing and I promptly fell in love with it. Smokey flavors translated to the palate along with some mineral graphite aspects. A little bitterness in the finish but not to a fault. The tannins are softened now and this is drinking pretty perfectly right now.

(Ackerman Family Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon) #5; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-dark; NOSE-this is an '04 and it smells more like aged Cabernet which excites me; a little kirsch & sour cherry; a little bark; pretty; PALATE-this is interesting; a Napa Cab; I like the fruit; it's subtle; not too over-the-top; I feel like the oak has calmed down; this is very appealing to me; a hair over-oaked, but it's calmed down and rounded out by some great richness; sawdust; a little cedar; and a hint of leather with the kirsch; I don't love it, but I like it a lot; GV-89+

Well constructed - not too much obvious fruit. A little black olive. Woody, leather. Smooth entry, shorter finish.
