Friday Dinner at our Place (Our House, Hong Kong): Decanted for an hour and drank over the next four. Still a young-looking pale straw gold colour. Nose is muted warm straw. Palate is pebble-rounded mineral acidity with a super lemon/mandarin skin zest, pear, a peach-stone tannic element and a very pebbly, almost flinty finish but with that peach stone dryness again on the back end. Humming resonance and reverberance on the finish. Still lots of life ahead of this. Not a wow! wine but almost better for that. Certainly my best experience with this vintage. 92+

Dinner at Otto e Mezzo (Otto e Mezzo, Alexandra House, Central, Hong Kong): Light straw-gold colour that belies its age. Nose of warm roasted lemon skins, Durian, white shoe cream, Persil washing powder, melted butter, rich caramel popcorn, marshmallow, some volatility and lots of malo here. Palate is very pertly and waxy, volatile, some mild honeycomb at the finish but increasingly overwhelmed by the tart acidic element of Pomelo pith. A moderate resonance on the finish. Badly needs food but isn't redeemed by it. Was probably more attractive in its youth. Not my thing.

Well-made wine, very like white Burgundy from Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru. Sexy in nosing, structure and the aftertaste. Starts with medium toasted oak, medium-bodied, well-balance and lovely impact in the finish.
After 3.30 hours, more oaky captured and it overwhelms all the beautiful elements but still tempting.
Gaja Tasting hosted by Angelo Gaja (The Peninsula Hotel- Chicago): This vineyard was planted in 1979. My favorite white of the night. More like a Chablis than a Meursault or Cal Chard. Stunning nose of bright fruit and white flowers. Notes of vanilla, peach and coconut (Otis pointed this last one out). Rather gripping and tart on the midpalate. 89-90 points.

Almost 100% Chardonnay. Interesting nose of perfume, peppermint and lime. Very clean and crisp feel to the palate. Fruity and sweet, a liquid version of a lemon lifesaver.

(Gaja Langhe Chardonnay Gaia & Rey) Fresh citrus nose with a hint of oak; huge, concentrated, tasty, seamless lemon palate with good acidity and well-integrated oak; medium finish
