The best (least objectionable at this stage) of the '06 - '09 poured side by side. Still absolutely massive, new oak, dry oak, balsa wood, glycerin, varnish, underripe blackberry, black currant, bourbon, vanilla extract. No real nose to speak of. Unapologetically striking on the palate with tight black and blue fruit and alcohol. Gigantic and intensely gripping tannin. The most 'approachable' of the four although this should be laid down for another 20 years as well.
An eclectic night in Maryland (Potomac Maryland): This is flat out gorgeous. Huge, supple, round, rich, American, Napa cab without ever hinting at being over the top, hot or anything negative... Except perhaps being too close to perfect. All that and I wouldn't even call it WOTN.
