  • Pinot tres Fin.

Bright cherry and cola notes, and as it warmed in the glass, some nice funk. Nonsense to those who predicted a short life. Lots of time would have been left in this 15 year old bottle, but not now that I've drunk half the bottle. I reserved the balance for tomorrow; let's see what develops...

  • Solid.
Others have written an expiration date of 2016. My experience with this bottle suggests otherwise.
Very dark fruited, fully developed and well integrated tannins, with more than sufficient acidity to give it lift.
A Bourgogne of surprising weight, more NSG or GC than CM.

  • Very muscular, the wine attacks the palate with its still youthful acidity. For those suggesting that it is best enjoyed by 2016, I'd say, hold on for a taste experience akin to autocross - accelerating quickly and taking the turns at high speed. The aromas are heady, and the flavors - more dark fruit than red - are amped up by the bracing acidity.

Alternatively, hold off, and let's see what will come from further aging. In this case, I think patience will be rewarded. All this having been said, the bottle was (though not profound) very enjoyable, and paired surprisingly well with steak.

  • Drunk with two Bichot bourgognes, 2006 and 07: this had deeper colour and riper flavours - something a little reticent about the nose, though, and missing some concentration on the palate. For the appellation this is very good indeed, but on QPR maybe not - may well improve, not quite singing today.

  • solid, medium tannins. good cherry start with moderate finish. not too fruity, good structure for a borgogne. could last for some time yet.
