| | Tasted by tooch on 2/7/2010 & rated 90 points: 29th Birthday Celebration; 2/5/2010-2/7/2010 (my apartment): Took a WHILE to open up. Fairly good amount of tart cherry and strawberry here. Compared to other 2007 CdR, this bottle didn't necesarily stack up with the amount of spice, but it did have a nicely developed caramel and coffee component. I think this bottle will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle aging. (569 views) |

| | Tasted by suthersm on 2/3/2010: Powerful wine that is currently reticent on the nose and palate. Although there is some fairly ripe fruit, it is a bit tightly wound. I enjoyed the wine on night one, but thought it spectacular on night two. It had really opened up aromatically and one the palate. I'd buy more for the $18 price. (1189 views) |
| | Tasted by EGunderson on 2/2/2010 & rated 88 points: Had to give one a try, even though I knew it was early.
Mostly prunish on the nose, maybe a little fruit. Definite fruit and spice on the palate. Finish was longer than expected but quite tannic.
All in all, very tasty, just tough to pull out any specific flavors (is yummy a flavor?).
If you bought a case at release, give one a try. If you only have a handful, wait a couple of years. (1117 views) |

| | Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 1/27/2010 & rated 90 points: 2007 Rhones $20 to $40: The group liked this more than I, but I liked it. I was surprised how approachable it was. Lots of ripe, sweet fruit. Black raspberries with an earthy floor. Clean and no funk. Plenty of upside, but this does seem more robust at this stage than earlier vintages. Of course, this brought out the "old timers" discussion on what this used to sell for. In fact, even a few years ago you could find it for under $20. (1552 views) |

| | Tasted by gbbwino on 1/20/2010 & rated 90 points: Popped & poured a glass - decanted balance of wine. High acidity & a bit hot, especially on the finish. Very nice wine, especially at $18/bottle. Solid core of smoky black fruit. Fine tannins with a slightly drying finish - flavors hang around. This is a great "daily" wine for the price with some complexity - not like your typical over-the-counter Costco wine. Thought the '05 was great - down to my last one. Burned through 3 of my '06's. The '05 is my favorite of the bunch now, but the '07 should round out & soften up with a few years in the bottle-it will improve & get better, I think. Excellent wine! (1672 views) |

| | Tasted by alanr on 1/12/2010 & rated 90 points: Side by side tasting: 2007 Coudoulet Beaucastel and Tablas Creek Esprit: Tasted side by side with the 07 Tablas Creek Esprit. This is packed with rich, lush fruit, I might not have guessed Rhone blind due to the level of ripeness, but it's not OTT. Excellent overall balance, with some fine tannins and a good dose of acidity, the palate is broad and full, showing medium dark red fruits, raspberry/strawberry overtones, hints of roasted meat juices. From memory I think I prefer the 05 version of this wine, though this 07 is really nice in its voluptuous way. Fairly one dimensional and straightforward right now, will probably improve with 2-5 years in bottle. (2056 views) |
| | Tasted by Rechrom on 1/11/2010 & rated 89 points: Good CdR with no real panache. Lost to its American cousin (2007 Cotes de Tablas) in a side by side, but was not trounced. (2031 views) |

| | Tasted by Anonymous on 1/9/2010 & rated 89 points: Just received some bottles and I could not wait to try. The bouquet is still somewhat locked, but there are black and some red fruits. Also some herbs and spices. Same on the palate. The tannin is still tight but of good quality. A lot of freshness in the wine. Good acidity. Maybe there is some bottle shock so I'll try another bottle later this year. This wine will probably last at least 8 years to a decade or longer. 89 for this moment. (1802 views) |

| | Tasted by Decaturwinedude on 1/1/2010 & rated 89 points: Slight funk on the nose, mossy, earthy. Palate is stacked with dark-ish fruit, licorice notes, and peppery spice. Needs some time to unwind, but a fine Coudoulet that will be drinking well for a few years. Great value again. I think I like the '06 we had last night a bit better at this point. (1961 views) |

| | Tasted by mmh on 12/31/2009 & rated 90 points: Young and closed. Nice clean aromas of dark berries. Quite complex with lots going on behind the brick wall of tannins and acids. Needs time but shows great potential. (2092 views) |
| | Tasted by avp on 12/28/2009: Ripe red and dark fruit. Cherry, strawberry, blueberry etc. Charcoaly and slightly herbaceous with hints of oak. Full-bodied with a fruit-tannin-acidity -structure promising a balanced wine - though the wine appears a bit edgy and murky at this stage. Long finish with liquorice and charcoal. Probably would have needed a longer decant than the half an hour we were able to provide. A promising experience. (2118 views) |
| | Tasted by acheng on 12/25/2009 & rated 88 points: Used a third of the bottle for making cornish hen souranov. The hen was fantastic! Perhaps the airing really helped this time. None of the yeasty nose. Very rich and juicy dark cherry. Well judged acidity with firm tannin. The previous bottles must had been a bad one. This one is more in line with the 01 I had previously. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 16 + Algemeen / potentieel: 9 = 91/100 (2340 views) |
| | Tasted by chambolle on 12/20/2009: This was preceded by a number of bubblies, white and red burgundy -- probably not the best of circumstances for my appreciation of the wine. It has a deep purple color; a dark roasted fruit nose, plenty of weight on the palate, ample concentration of blackberry fruit and softly chewy tannins. There is licorice and coffee and the usual Southern Rhone stuff going on. For its level and its price, there is plenty of wine here. It isn't exactly my preferred style of wine, but I appreciate it for what it is -- quite a substantial, well made, well priced, and somewhat forward Rhone blend. For many of our guests -- most of whom are used to drinking Washington State reds -- it was their wine of the evening. Chacun a son gout. (2743 views) |
