Blind tasting lunch. People were guessing super tuscan. I liked the nose and palate here but found it to be a solid, middle of the road Brunello without that extra oomph that Soldera usually provides. Also rather structured on the palate. Solid, but not a great Soldera.

Tasted blind. Double-decanted several hours before. Nice and sexy nose with slight aging notes of leather balancing a fresh red berry fruit and herbal layers. Palate is well balanced, even if tannins still have a drying quality to them.

El Cumpleaños Menor de JS (Elystan): Ruby and clear with a medium opacity. Very little bricking at the edges. The nose was red cherry and other red fruits, orange zest, wet earth and dusty dry attic. Very well structured with round fine tannins. A core of bright acidity ran the length of the profile providing a spine for the fresh savory cherry fruits. Slow growing and powerful profile ended long. Super delicious!

Drank side by side with a 04' Poggio di Sotto riserva. A great vintage for Poggio, and a not great vintage for Soldera, but the Soldera still came out on top. Very similar wines, but the Soldera had a bit more structure. Very juicy and crunchy fruit with bright acidity, this wine is a beauty.
