Color is dark garnet to the rim -- this s a big Barbaresco. On the nose, cherry, pepper, smoke, and tar. Palate revealed tart cherry, earth, tar, adn significant tannin. This is still a bit of a handful at this point, but with more time should continue to mellow. Thanks to John Amend (Dallas master of Italian wines) for another excellent Italian.
Outstanding bottle of traditional Barbaresco. Quite primary, tarry and tannic when opened but developed nicely in the decanter, putting on a nice floral sweetness after 6 hours or so. Complex and in need of further cellaring. Try again in 2008.
