Friends brought this to dinner at a Brazilian steakhouse. Pop and poured. Opaque and thick dark wine. Baked blueberry pie with LOTS of vanilla dominate this wine. Not my style or needs a lot more acidity to add balance. I can see how this appeals to a lot of people.

Color is advanced with some browning and density is big, almost opaque. nose of Smokey meats, blackberries and caramel-wow. Intense and super fragrant. Palate is near fully resolved and jam packed with chewy red and black fruits of black raspberries, black cherries, cassis, and plum pumice. This is round and abundant with focus, dimension and style. Certainly different than most Syrahs I have had but in a good way; Syrah wears many sets of clothing, and Charles Smith has its number. Probably foot stomped and as near biodynamic as could be. Balance is deft with all just sitting on the mid-palate nicely. An expression of this grape I could love. Quiet, determined and focused. Finish goes long on this. Wish I had more.

(K Vintners Syrah Morrison Lane Vineyard Walla Walla Valley) A beautiful, complex nose with black and green olives. Olive pits mix with light, layered floral aromas and anise. If it sounds strange, it is, but it works. This wine has a lot of power and depth on the taste. A remarkable variability in the aromas when it is swirled and not swirled. 257 cases produced.
(K Vintners Morrison Lane Syrah) #3; COLOR-dark; NOSE-lot of dark fruit; cherry fruit roll-ups; TASTE-massive; quintessential Syrah; big & bold; this will benefit from cellaring for sure; jammy without being thick; very focused fruit; a hair hot on the back-end, but this is young; nice sweet and delicious tannins; some nice red fruit; could score higher in a few years; GV-90
