Community Tasting Notes (average 90 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 6 notes)

Tasted by NY Pete on 10/31/2009 & rated 91 points: another twisted winner ... since last December, this wine has become more balanced ... still a big wine, perfect for this Halloween night ... loaded with black fruits on the nose and palate ... some spice on the finish and still slightly tannic ... me likey alot = outstanding = 91+ (312 views)
Tasted by DrT999 on 5/9/2009 & rated 91 points: On opening: Black cherry pie and black raspberry on the nose. Begins with a soft blackberry, followed quickly by moderately strong tannins, black cherry, blackberry, and black current, with everything tapering off to a tannic black cherry/rasberry finish. 90/91 on opening.

+45 minutes Much the same, except a bit brambly at the mid-point. Hopefully that will disappear as the wine opens.

+90 minutes The nose remains the same. While the flavor profile is also the same (minutes the brambles), the flavors have deepened and lengthened, while the tannins have also softened.

+120 -- nice plateau

+180 -- a little cedar added to the nose, and some cigar tobacco to the fruit.

+ four hours and still going strong. A really excellent, solid wine (438 views)

Tasted by amgryger on 12/4/2008: Tasted blind. Oak dominates the nose with carmel and vanilla. A big wine with more oak on the palate with ripe black cherry with a touch of an herbal/licorice note on the finish. (564 views)

Tasted by drdebs on 9/21/2008 & rated 92 points: A big red that's surprisingly light on its feet. Bright ruby color. Nice viscosity and a decadent, silky texture in the mouth. Aromas of cherry jam, cinnamon, and baking space. Flavors are of cherry pie, allspice, clove and then a dark and smoky finish that is in nice balance with the fruit. Really excellent. Well worth getting on the list. (737 views)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in almost 10 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
