  • Lightly fruity nose, lots of barnyard on the palate almost no fruit. Very short acidic finish. Ok with food but don't drink this alone unless you like acid and lots of it.

  • A blend of 90% Négrette and 10% Syrah. Bright medium ruby purple color. Clean yet funky rustic nose, pronounced intensity, fully developed of garigue, farmyard in a Mr. Eds armpit kind of way, musty, meaty and briary dark fruit. On the palate its dry, medium acidity, medium low fine grained tannins, medium alcohol (13% abv), medium bodied, medium flavor intensity with notes of violets, lavender, dark fruits, very earthy notes on the medium to short finish. A good quality rustic earthy wine that will not appeal to everyone but I really liked it. Was $12 retail at Cheese Plus in San Francisco. Was a good match with duck rilettes.

  • Very dark and horsey, with some stones thrown in there. Light in body, and very strong in structure. I for some reason kept pouring into my glass, even though superficially, it really didn't seem that appealing. Not sure what that means. This could benefit from the right food pairing.

  • Won this at work. In decanter for an hour. Threw a considerable amount of sediment so needed the decanting not only for the air but for the clean-up too. I sniffed secretly into the decanter and thought, «This smells of used diapers as I remember them». Confirmed by Iren an hour later, who when tasting said, «Smells like cat fart». (And neither of us meant this in a good way, apparently there IS such a thing). Surpassed only by the yeasty smell in my nose. On the palate softer than expected. Rather on the thin side. Not tannic. Drank with bavette in tomato/cream sauce, OK match.

A very fundamental daily drinker at best, but I'd rather suggest you spend your money elsewhere. If you already did buy it you should probably drink it soon.
