2019 Visit to North Canterbury, NZ: Served double blind with the Grivot. Much darker colour than the Grivot. A bright and breezy bouquet of black cherries, blackberries, dark spices and rocky minerals. Fruit forward and expressive. Pure, linear and direct on palate. Driven, persistent acids and refined, spherical tannins. Lovely juicy black fruit profile with touches of wild blackberries. Grand Cru structure, weight and concentration. Refined and a well integrated whole. An excellent Bonnes Mares. On its optimal drinking plateau for the next 10 -15 years, I'd guess. 94+.

HDH auction at Spiaggia (ft. Maison Leroy); 9/13/2018-9/15/2018 (Chicago, IL): Wow. This wine is insanely good. The fruit profile is fresh and delicious, with an incredibly rich powerful palate. So much fruit, counterbalanced with clean, mineral dirt. I just love this so much. The massive power here wows me, but the freshness of the fruit and the intensity of the dirt...

From magnum, and there were some concerns being expressed that due to the vintage and format it would too tight to show well. Those concerns were happily proven to be unfounded, as this wine was "open for business." Lush fruit from the first sip, great length, and very easy to gulp down quickly. The magnum was all gone within a short time. Recommended.

Drank over 4 hours from magnum. Very powerful wine. Dark fruit and spice, black pepper and wood on the nose. The palate matched and was very dense but with great grip. Brighter red fruit. Long lingering finish. This will last a long time.

Bourgogne 2002 tasting. Many top wines from some of the best producers, Rousseau, Roumier, DRC, Leroy etc; 3/28/2019-4/28/2019 (Restaurant Palægade, Copenhagen): This wine actually was included in the tasting due to very positive tasting notes here on cellarTracker, - so thank you for that. I am much in accordance with the earlier notes and found this very hedonistic for a Bonnes Mares. Much more ready than the Roumier Bonnes Mares 2002 (95) in the same flight, but years from now they will likely be separated by more than one point. A really good wine that from normal bottling is ready now.
