  • Phenomenal. Greatest old Beaujolais I’ve had. Bright, red fruited on opening, with a lingering, striking mineral tang. With some air softened a touch and become a bit more earthy. Showed beautifully for a good hour or more before beginning to flag. Gorgeous stuff that is ringer for aged top notch village Gevrey.

  • For SFJoe (Josefa & Mark's House - Chicago, IL): This poured a dazzling raspberry color in the glass. Aromas of floral notes, wet earth, cranberries, and spices filled the glass...just gorgeous bouquet of flavors. The wine was drinking very well - more feminine and floral than what you'd find in a new release Foillard, but all the flavors seemed a bit more complex and deep. I was really impressed by this bottle. It is the oldest Foillard I've tried and it gave me great hope for the bottles I own.

  • Charmingly delicate and light-bodied, with crisp acidity and a texture like silk. Flavors of dried red berries, black tea, autumn leaves, plus a whole lot of metallic, horsey tasting brett that overwhelms most of what this has to offer. Disappointing.
