Discovered today in the cellar and drunk tonight with veal piccata. Well into brown, but still alive with the distinctive Barolo characteristics. Now on the downslope, so drink very soon if you still have it. Found a second bottle, now slated for consumption tomorrow night with a pasta dish.

What a treat. This is in its happy place right now. Haven't had this in 8 years, so I forgot my impressions then. But very typical Barolo flavors and aromas. What really brings it to the next level is how perfectly in balance everything is right now. The tannins have softened. It still has loads of fruit, but with some earthy elements as well. Just a world class bottle, and eminently enjoyable. I only wish I didn't drink my half bottle in two hours, to see how it changed, but it was so damned good I couldn't help it. Special stuff if you have it, but I would open sooner than later.

Decanted half the bottle, drank the rest eventually, and that seemed to work v. well. Delicious. Old Barolo color and flavor notes -- geeks would tell this blind in a flash. Excellent example of what it's supposed to be, and quite enjoyable. Ready.
