Difficult for me to give Ridge a sub-90 point score. This wine was certainly good technically but it seemed too over-oaked and tannic. I've always suspected that Ridge used the ATP program wine to prime barrels for other vintages. I have another bottle...so we'll try it in several years to see if the tannins have mellowed.

(Ridge Syrah/Grenache Lytton Estate) Very dark raspberry red color; Grenachey, baked cherry, berry, VA, blackberry nose; ripe berry, black cherry, black fruit, vanilla palate with depth and balance; medium-plus finish (needs 3-4 years)
