  Still has fruit up front. The not much acidity, tannins have mellowed. It could probably last longer, but is very nice right now.

  The wine is a deep ruby to maroon color. The very pleasing and soothing nose has cassis, cherry, cedar, baking spices, smoke, dried herbs, leather, and violets. This has a medium body, fairly solid, ripe tannins, and good acidity. On the palate the wine has nice spicy fruit and dried herbs with no notes from overly ripe fruit or aggressive, over extraction. The finish has very nice length. This is in a prime drinking window and is one of the better 2005 Cabernets from the Napa Valley.

  Decanted about an hour. Deep ruby color. Cassis, cherry, cedar, dried herbs, tobacco, eucalyptus, and some smoke on the very soothing nose. Medium body with fairly solid, ripe tannins and very nice acidity. Nice fruit and spice on the palate with absolutely no excess weight and no rough edges. Very nice length on the finish which shows nice dried herbs and fruit that very slowly fade. Tastes great now with a bit of air but should improve with some additional cellar time.

Solid Napa cab in an old school way. Not your current big ripe fruit and chocolatey oak type of wine. Went very well with dinner and after dinner glass is also very nice. No hurry on this wine, good now, better down the road.
