Best sub $10 chardonnay I can ever remember having. A wonderful summer sipper from Benziger, very fragrant nose of lemon, apple and pears. Nicely balanced wine on the palate, taste of crisp apples and mild lemon. Smooth and full mouth feel, leads to a relatively short but very satisfying finish. We've had a Benziger reserve chardonnay which usually goes for about 3 times this price and I have to say this $10 bargain isn't far behind it's scarcer more expensive sibling. Highly recommend seeking out this Chardonnay from Benziger (on sale currently in PA state stores). One other note, this isn't the typical new style of over buttery or over oaked CA chards. A great wine. We recently visited the Benziger winery on a trip to California, a highly recommended visit. They produce their wines with biodynamic farming techniques. If you go, opt for the reserved tasting in the separate back room.

Tasted blind - medium lemon, clear throughout. Nose of oak, butter, tropical fruits and sweet ginger. Flavours of toasty oak, butter, ripe pear and apple. Medium, almost full body, medium to high acidity, medium finish. Creamy palate. Too oaky for me. Average.
