taking on a more mature color with some brick red showing through. the tannins have softened revolving a more elegant, refined profile. still plenty of red fruit and pepper with cocoa but the edges have softened. enjoyed by all at dinner with friends.
decanted for about an hour. had all the makings of a nice cab with a nice nose of dark fruit, a hint of cocoa, some spice and herbal elements. however, the palate was a bit thin in the middle and there was a tart/bitter note on the back end that was really unappetizing.
My last bottle, so sad but what a cab. It definetly worth decanting for several hours. I drank over 5 hours enjoying every sip and was amazed how well evolved over the time. The first few hours the fruit was so dominant on the front but by the end it was extremely well balanced with the midpalate bringing out nuances of sweet notes, vanilla, cocoa, with hints of tobacco, finish was phenomenal and long lasting. Given the complexity and the change, i think this Cab has a few years to go and wish had a few more to go. Mid 90s. -S
It has been about two years since I rated this one and still think it is a winner. It has evolved very well and a more silky texture to it but still has big fruit throughout. The finish is great and the flavors mirror what I posted last time. I think its drinking exceptionally well now but has the complexity to continue to improve for another year or 2. Mid 90s. -S
