These guys are the epitome of a California wine marketing machine. They turn out about a zillion "small lots" (good marketing term intended to denote artisanal craftsmanship) of wine from around the state whenever and from whomever can they can snab a few tons of grapes at a good price. They make a decent straightforward ordinary product but make sure to highlight the "family" aspect (again a good marketing ploy intended to denote "hard work" "pride of finished product" "an honest days effort", etc etc etc).
They are extremely careful to avoid getting their stuff reviewed by Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast or Parker as they know a "bad" review will hurt whereas a "win" at the Yuba County Ag Fair or a Silver medal at the North Fork Annual Picnic can be marketed hard and made to look impressive.
At the end of the day its a plain Jane over ripe straightforward effort. Soft, ripe, jammy. Nothing more regardless of the back label hype.....
