Outstanding and mature, old-school Barossa Shiraz. Creamy American Oak, tobacco top notes, with candied blackberries on the nose. The aroma also has some deeper notes of complexity. On the palate, not a hard edge in sight, with a gentle and warm nature, spicy black fruits and creamy vanilla oak to the fore. Gentle and very modulated finish. This is in early to mid maturity, for my tastes and can certainly be drunk with great pleasure. Sweet and an old softy, this convinces on equilibrium rather than fireworks. Almost like a time capsule in terms of style but with the added attraction of superlative wine making.

Colour showing some age. Brick red and brown. The nose is dusty vanilla, violet, cedar and umami. Palate is brooding, dark cherries, a little pepper, tannins are almost gone with some subtle acid leading through to a long mouth filling finish. Still has a few years to go yet, but drinking well now.
