  • This, again, wasn't my style. I didn't get the meaty, gamey notes I thought the wine would have. It was dark, dark purple with muted blackberry and earth. Pnp. Massive mid pallet with gripping tannin and noticeable tannin. I had to get some cheese and meat to have with the wine to calm the wine down. To me, I thought this wine was like a rope that had a frayed ending. Not sure if it will come all back together since it was a bit unbalanced.

  • 1 hour decant. roasted meat, blackberry, blueberry, and white pepper. Smooth with smooth mouthfeel. . Finish goes on and on.

  • Good nose. Sweet dark fruits dominates. Full bodied but short in finish. Dead arm 2002 is more superior than this 2006..

  • Not a lot of notes. Needed two hour decant to begin opening up, but then sang. Deep, dark Shiraz with red and black fruits along with chocolate and espresso on the nose and palate. Palate adds licorice, pencil lead smoke and tar. Big structure, firm tannins with well-matched acidity. Medium extraction, there is some decent finesse in this lush, even creamy, wine. The finish lasts for a long time. Just starting to hit a nice drinking window that will extend for a good 5+ years. All-around good wine but nothing in the way of uniqueness.

  • During a tasting event. Medium purple with ruby rim. Typical Barossa nose of torrefaction, cassis, wood, licorice. Full bodied with soft tannins and appropriate acidity, medium length. This is a well-made wine for sure but not at the level of the best Aussie Shiraz.
