Safe, simple merlot. I found this one to be better early. Started to sag after a couple of hours. Light red with an interesting yellow tone on the rim. Basic berry flavor with a hint of fig, mild heat that faded quickly, and a short to medium finish. Won't embarass - nice for a not fussy meal.

The Wine Merchant: Cupcake Vineyards (Findlay, OH): Soft sweet poundcake nose. Simple, light tannins and acid, medium- body. Creamy. Inoffensive. $12
