This turned out to be an excellent St. Emilion to accompany grill-roasted prime rib for Christmas. I wasn't sure whether the aging would be good to the bottle since the last bottle was not great. Well, this one was delicious. I don't know if it compares to heavyweights in this vintage or terroir but what a delicious wine this proved to be. Lovely fruit is still there but with some depth thanks to the aging. It probably could be cellared even longer.

This was probably past its prime and suffered from a little bit of corking. However, it was better on the second day - really rather lovely with pure fruit and a nice balance. On the third try it had lost a good deal of that lushness, but was acceptable. I have two more bottles and will try to finish them up relatively soon.

This was excellent. For some reason, this bottle was superior to the previous one I opened about 6-8 months ago. This one came together well with clean, characteristic flavors of St. Emilion.

Went beautifully with steak. It was not the most amazing St. Emilion I've ever had, but it certainly was very satisfying and became more interesting over time (we decanted it). It is drinking well now - perhaps beginning to lose some strength but perhaps gaining in complexity.
