Aromas of dark fruit, leather, and dusty earth. Very tart cherries upfront, plum on the mid-palate, and a earthy and slightly back pepper finish. As the wine breathed, the fruit faded a bit and was replaced by more savory flavors like black olives and smoked meats. I should have sat on this bottle for a few more years.
Ripe blue black syrah fruit with what tastes like some percentage of new oak. There is some black olive, black pepper typicity, but also blackberry fruit and a little caramel sweetness. The texture of the new wood is present on the finish also. With air the wine shows a little iron mineral and blood. A month ago this showed the wood less than last night. I think either drink very soon, or age for 4-5 years and hope some of the wood integrates a bit. There is enough material here to age.
