Surprisingly more alive than anticipated. With a little air time, started expressing nuanced notes of dried fruit, herbs, earth, bitter chocolate. Also surprised by the level of acid & textural quality. This went well with pizza, not so well with the chocolate afterward. Had some heat on the nose that kept it slightly unbalanced, and is definitely on the downside, but is still enjoyable.

(Cadence Winery Camerata Red Wine Cara Mia Vineyard Red Mountain) An engaging nose with cherry, spice, and light hints of earth. The taste is more fruit forward than the other 2006 releases from this winery. A pleasant mouthfeel. 94% Cabernet; 6% Cab Franc.
