Lunch at Jade Court (Chicago, IL): #20-08, 9% abv. Not sure this is entirely correct; there's just something off about the palate, and alternate sips I think I get some TCA on the palate. A frustrating bottle as this has the expected sweetness, texture, and minerality.
#20-08, 9% abv. Extremely intense nose, with so much ripe fruit and honeyed/floral elements (though not quite in the botrytis sense). There is also a pronounced note of rock dust which vaguely evoke the geologically-active locations I've hiked through as well. On the palate, this certainly shows the ripeness of the 2007 vintage, and while this is quite sweet, this actually feels more balanced by the minerality than the acidity. Chuggably delicious, but just as profound if you spend the time. An absolutely brilliant wine.

Saturday riesling and farewell (Chicago, IL): It has been ages since I opened a bottle of this and this is really firing on all cylinders right now. It's like sweetened crushed rocks. So drinkable and fresh, and with so much minerality you get that kind of tannic feeling on the palate. 2007 has always struck me as a bit fleshy but this bottle has no excess fat at all. It is sculpted, shapely, and just mind-bendingly delicious. I'll have to start picking off a few more of these now that I know how good they are currently.

Starting to evolve nicely. Some petrol notes, and drier on the palate than expected. Incredibly complex wine, golden colour, viscous in the glass but very balanced on the palate

HDH Auction; 12/13/2014-12/14/2014 (TRU): Another delicious riesling; palate is packed with stone fruits, honey and some floral notes, and the acidity on the back-end balances out the sweetness quite well
