  • A beautifully mature claret. Needs and hour or 2 decant to open and show its best as it started out tight. Aromas of black cherry, anise, earth, cedar, spice and dark currants. Still has plenty of fruit with black cherry, currant, anise, earth, spice vanilla and cedar. medium to full body, great balance. the tannins have softened i the long silky smooth finish. showing really well now, not sure it will improve.

  • Outstanding and very elegant. Purchased at auction specifically to celebrate our anniversary ('99). We took out of cellar 30 mins before consumption and immediately placed into a cradle to minimize sediment shift. The cork was in great shape. Tastes of chocolate and black fruits were forward, tannins and acidity were mild. Paired nicely with our baked pasta and garlic bread. Having visited the winery several years ago we were very much looking forward to drinking this lovely wine and we were not disappointed.

  • Dark red color. Aromas of black cherries, lead pencil and oak spices. Ripe, fully-integrated fruit in the mouth with excellent depth nod length. Complex and supple on the palate. Impressively, very fresh and intact for a 1999 California cab.

  • Well integrated and lovely. Nose is in a great spot right now with tertiary notes coming through. On the palate not heavy but with great finesse. A strong example of what aged Napa cabernet can be.

  • Dark red color, faint aromas upon pulling cork, earthy dark berry aromas appeared with airtime. Fruit was muted initially and improved over time as well. medium weight on palate, tannins were faintly present. If we had never had a Pride Mtn Reserve Claret we would say this was pretty good. However we have had many over the years and felt this particular bottle was not up to the usual standard. The fruit was more muted than usual and overall lacked the usual elegance we anticipated. Will try another bottle before too long.
