So-so on PnP but after about 90 minutes this absolutely purred with smoldering confidence. First the tertiaries were there upon opening, then the fruit emerged, and how--compote and baked berry pie, with background hints of eucalyptus, plum, and the herbal flavors of crispy roasted duck skins(?!)--and shortly thereafter, the soft remaining structure stretches out, which was enough to support steak frites and a juicy burger at Occitania Oakland. A wine of warmth and sophistication. I imagine it by a crackling fire. Pinpoint density and viscosity with a noble, baked, extract sweetness. Just too elegant! No browning; the slumbering fruit soon awakens. Perfectly stored bottles deserve at most a quick decant. Drink now.
